Key research progress

Shangjie Youlan Research Institute focuses on conducting technological research in three major strategic directions: new polymer materials, superior plant extract raw materials, and advanced super-modified raw materials.
  • Development of new polymer materials
    Centered around the Anse non‑transdermal coloring system, a series of products including water‑soluble, oil‑soluble, and hair‑dye‑specific formulations have been developed for applications in color cosmetics, hair coloring, and daily chemicals. Safety meets pharmaceutical‑grade standards. Cooperation intentions have been established with international companies such as Cosfa, Shiseido, Kolmar, and L'Oréal. Starting from 2025, the globally exclusive Anse polymer colorants will be successively launched, revolutionizing traditional coloring systems and creating a new technological pathway in both product coloring and functional coloring.
  • Extraction of Natural Bioactive Ingredients from Priority Plants
    By employing advanced processes such as supercritical extraction and membrane separation, we develop plant extracts endowed with anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, and skin-whitening properties. For instance, individual products utilizing supercritical extraction or microencapsulation technologies can enhance the penetration rate of active ingredients by over 40%; furthermore, numerous related achievements have been granted national invention patents.
  • Technologically Advanced Modified Raw Materials
    By leveraging liposomal encapsulation and supramolecular assembly technologies, we address critical industry pain points such as poor raw material solubility, low stability, and suboptimal efficacy of active ingredients. The Shangjie Youlan Research Institute has successively launched a series of flagship products—including those featuring dual and triple encapsulation systems. A prime example is our independently developed supramolecular-modified ceramide liposome product; it has shattered industry limits regarding active ingredient loading levels and boosted bioavailability by 60%, thereby breaking the technological monopoly previously held by foreign products.

    Anse@Polymer Colorant has entered the national drug regulatory authority's approval stage. Anse@Luo Shen Zhu was approved on October 30, 2025.
  • 100 kg-scale pilot production line
    To achieve laboratory-scale production on a large scale, the sales revenue of the pilot laboratory when fully operational could exceed 100 million yuan.
  • Market Application Deployment
    Anse@Polymer Colorant has entered the national drug regulatory authority's approval stage. Anse@Luo Shen Zhu was approved on October 30, 2025.

Collaboration between industry,
academia and research and talent cultivation

Shangjie Youlan Research Institute has established in-depth cooperation with universities such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing University of Commerce, East China University of Science and Technology, and University of Science and Technology of China. It has established multiple university-enterprise joint bodies to empower enterprise research and development, and has comprehensively constructed the Shangjie Youlan research system. In the next five years, it aims to build high-quality enterprise entities with provincial and ministerial-level, and national-level laboratories.
  • 1.Jointly establish a cosmetics technology laboratory

    Jointly establish the "Cosmetics Technology Joint Laboratory" with multiple platforms such as the Beijing Key Laboratory of Plant Resources Research and Development (provincial and ministerial level), and introduce industry leaders such as Professor Li Li and Associate Professor Yuan Huanxiang.

  • 2.Joint talent cultivation of industry university research cooperation

    Establishing a "Industry University Research Joint R&D Base" with Beijing Technology and Business University, cultivating over 20 professional and technical talents annually.

  • 3.Construction of Joint Graduate Training Base

    Build a multi platform 'graduate joint training base'. In the next five years, we will focus on building high-quality enterprise entities as provincial, ministerial, and national level laboratories.

  • 4.Research and production of marine algae raw materials

    Collaborating with the National Marine Bioreactor Laboratory of East China University of Science and Technology (national level), we have developed and cultivated high-yielding and high-quality algae species, enriching the plant extraction materials derived from marine algae. Currently, we have successfully trial produced extracts of purple algae and are about to officially start production.
